How do I Connect to Wi-Fi in Flight?

I asked Google. Or, as most people I know who are Googling something do, I first searched on Bing. Then I wondered, “Is there any way, once I'm connected to Delta wifi flight Wi-Fi to know when my time is about to expire?” Bing told me that “Wi-Fi Connect with onboard reservation system” does not help. After that, I got desperate and tried a series of Internet searches (Google) with question marks in between different words. Eventually, a page popped up that just said “Wi-Fi Plus” and provided me the answer — “to connect your device to an inflight Wi-Fi access point, open your browser and enter the login details” — I knew it!

Process to Follow

The first thing you need to do is make sure that your device is compatible with the airline's network. Some airlines use their own network, while others borrow from a third party like Gogo, which provides service for Delta, American Airlines, United, and Virgin America. If your device isn't compatible with the airline's network, it won't work in flight.

Next, you'll need to download and install any updates required by the airline before boarding the plane. Once you've done that, turn on your Wi-Fi feature once you've boarded and waited for the signal to appear on your device as soon as possible after takeoff. Your best bet is to turn it on as soon as you board because some airlines have limited bandwidth and may restrict access after takeoff (or even during takeoff) until they are at cruising altitude.

Once you're connected, go to the airline's website or app and log in with your frequent flyer account number. This will ensure that you're able to access all of the perks of your membership on board, like free entertainment options or a discount on food and drinks.
